Cleveland, OH – A powerful Arctic cold front is gripping the Upper Midwest and Northeast this weekend, bringing bitterly cold wind chills and heavy snow to states including Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York. Wind chills could drop as low as -30°F across the region, with heavy lake-effect snow disrupting travel through Monday.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will remain dangerously low, with the coldest wind chills expected Saturday morning. The Great Lakes region, especially along I-90 in Ohio and Pennsylvania and I-81 in New York, could see whiteout conditions from lake-effect snow. Travel disruptions are likely, with some areas receiving multiple feet of snow.
Residents are urged to limit outdoor exposure to prevent frostbite and hypothermia. Wear layers, keep emergency kits in vehicles, and avoid unnecessary travel in affected areas. Pets should also be kept indoors.
This Arctic outbreak is expected to linger through the weekend, with gradual improvement by Tuesday. However, temperatures will remain below average for much of the week. Forecasters warn that another cold front may arrive by next Friday.
