Marquette, MI – Michigan is in for an active weekend as strong winds, warming temperatures, and potential thunderstorms hit Upper Michigan starting Saturday. Wind gusts could reach 45 mph in some areas, creating hazardous conditions on lakes and rivers.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will rise significantly for this time of year, leading to rapid snowmelt. This could result in dangerous ice conditions, especially on lakes and rivers, where ice is already thinning. Residents are advised to avoid frozen waterways and secure loose outdoor objects as strong winds develop.

Saturday will bring breezy conditions, with south winds of 15 to 20 mph and gusts up to 40 mph. A slight chance of rain and snow showers is expected Saturday night as temperatures drop into the mid-20s. Sunday remains breezy, with a high near 31°F and a 20% chance of morning snow showers.

Looking ahead, Monday and Tuesday will be partly to mostly cloudy, with highs in the low 40s. More snow showers return Tuesday night into Wednesday, with accumulating snowfall possible.

Residents should remain alert for changing conditions and check local updates for potential flood risks. Those near lakes or rivers should exercise caution as ice becomes unstable.
