Southern Oregon, Northern California – A winter weather advisory has been issued for areas above 5,000 feet in southern Oregon and northern California, effective Wednesday at 4 p.m. through Friday at 10 a.m. Significant snowfall and strong winds are expected.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), snow accumulation could reach up to 26 inches in higher elevations, with gusts up to 70 mph. Impacted areas include Crater Lake National Park, Siskiyou Summit, and the Marble Mountains. Highways 62, 138, and 51 at Willamette Pass are also under advisory.

Travel could be challenging, with reduced visibility and dangerous road conditions, particularly during Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes. Residents are advised to monitor road conditions on 511 or local transportation websites. Strong winds may lead to tree and power line damage, increasing potential hazards.

Residents in affected regions should prepare emergency kits, avoid unnecessary travel, and secure outdoor objects. Officials urge drivers to slow down and exercise caution while traveling.
