Minneapolis, MN – A dangerous cold front continues to grip much of Minnesota, with an extreme cold warning remaining in effect until noon CST Tuesday. Wind chills as low as 41 degrees below zero are expected across central and eastern Minnesota, including the Twin Cities metro area.

According to the National Weather Service, the affected counties include Benton, Sherburne, Stearns, Anoka, Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, and Washington. Frostbite can occur on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes under these conditions.

Residents are advised to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel. If venturing outside, dressing in multiple layers and covering exposed skin is essential to reduce the risk of frostbite or hypothermia. Hats, gloves, and scarves are highly recommended.

Pets should be kept indoors whenever possible, and residents are urged to check on vulnerable neighbors, including the elderly. Portable heaters should be used with caution, and generators or grills must not be operated indoors to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.

This arctic cold front is expected to ease slightly after noon Tuesday, but temperatures will remain well below average for this time of year. Stay updated on weather alerts and road conditions if travel is necessary.
