Tulsa, Oklahoma – Heavy rain and strong storms could bring flash flooding and damaging winds to northeast Oklahoma starting late Thursday night and continuing into Friday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, a Flood Watch is in effect from 1 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday for areas including Tulsa, Bartlesville, Muskogee, and McAlester. Widespread rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches are expected, with locally higher amounts. Excessive runoff could lead to rapid flooding of low-lying roads, creeks, and urban areas, especially during the Friday morning commute.

The region is also under a slight risk of severe thunderstorms late Thursday into early Saturday. Hazards include wind gusts over 70 mph, quarter-sized hail, and a limited tornado threat, particularly in counties west of Fort Smith and Fayetteville.

Residents are urged to monitor local alerts, have multiple ways to receive warnings, and avoid flood-prone roadways. Those in mobile homes or low-lying areas should prepare to move to higher ground if warnings are issued overnight.

Storm activity may continue through the weekend, with additional heavy rainfall possible Saturday. Stay updated through weather.gov/Tulsa or local emergency alerts.
