Tucson, Arizona – Tucson residents should prepare for sweltering heat this week, with temperatures soaring to 101°F by Wednesday and a return of storm chances heading into the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Tucson, clouds will increase Wednesday as calm winds shift to the west by afternoon, pushing the heat index well above 100°F. Highs will remain near 100°F through Saturday, with a slight chance of thunderstorms developing Friday evening into Sunday.
Friday’s storms are expected to form after 5 p.m., with a 10% chance of precipitation that increases to 25% by Friday night. A more active weather pattern arrives Sunday, with a 50% chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms across Pima County.
Daytime heat combined with low humidity could elevate fire danger, especially in rural areas. Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity during peak heat, stay hydrated, and avoid leaving pets or children in vehicles.
Storms may bring brief gusty winds and localized downpours, especially late Friday and again Sunday afternoon. While no watches are in effect, further advisories could be issued if storm coverage expands.
More updates are expected by Friday morning as the weekend pattern becomes clearer.
