Charleston, SC – All warnings for Tropical Cyclone Eight have been canceled for Charleston as the storm tracks north. The storm, about 90 miles east of Charleston, remains in the Atlantic.
According to the National Weather Service, the storm is moving north-northwest at 5 mph with sustained winds of 50 mph. Forecast models predict the cyclone will move inland over North Carolina by Tuesday morning.
The strongest winds and heaviest rainfall are expected to impact areas north of South Carolina, primarily along the North Carolina coast. Charleston residents can expect improved conditions with minimal impacts from the storm.
Local authorities lifted all watches and warnings in the Charleston area after the cyclone’s trajectory shifted northward. Hazardous conditions are now primarily forecast for regions beyond the South Santee River.
Residents in affected areas of North Carolina are encouraged to monitor local advisories as the storm approaches, bringing heavy rain and potential flooding. Emergency preparations should remain in place until the storm passes safely inland.
