TRENTON, N.J. – Commuters across New Jersey and neighboring states are navigating treacherous roads this morning as patchy dense fog creates hazardous driving conditions with visibility dropping to near zero in some locations.

According to the National Weather Service, multiple special weather statements have been issued for a wide swath of the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. The fog is impacting coastal areas of New Jersey and Delaware, higher terrain in Pennsylvania’s Poconos, parts of north-central Maryland, and stretches of New York and Connecticut. Affected cities include Atlantic City, Freehold, Allentown, Baltimore, and Morristown.

Officials advise motorists to prepare for rapidly changing conditions, especially in valleys and near bodies of water. The sudden drops in visibility can create dangerous situations on major roadways. Drivers should use low-beam headlights, reduce speed, and maintain extra following distance to ensure safety during the morning rush.

The fog is expected to persist through the early morning before lifting. Forecasters are actively monitoring the situation and may issue formal Dense Fog Advisories if conditions worsen.
