Fort Wayne, Indiana – Drivers across northern Indiana, northwest Ohio, and south-central Michigan should expect sudden visibility drops this morning as dense fog settles over the region, potentially snarling the early commute. According to the National Weather Service offices in Indianapolis, Cleveland, and Grand Rapids, fog formation began overnight and is expected to linger through mid to late morning, gradually lifting by around 10 a.m. Wednesday. Counties impacted include LaGrange, Steuben, Lucas, Wood, Gratiot, and Calhoun, among others.
Cities such as Fort Wayne, Toledo, Lima, and Jackson are seeing widespread fog, especially along rural stretches and near waterways. Motorists on I-69, US-20, and Ohio Route 15 should use extreme caution, reduce speed, and avoid high beams to prevent glare. Quick visibility changes may occur within short distances, particularly in low-lying areas.
Transportation departments urge drivers to allow extra time, keep headlights on low beam, and maintain extra distance between vehicles. School buses and morning commuters may experience delays in localized zones.
The fog threat is expected to diminish by late morning, but drivers should stay alert for updated advisories as conditions evolve.
