Rock Island, IL – A tornado warning has been issued this evening for parts of western Illinois and eastern Iowa, including Rock Island, Moline, and Davenport, as radar indicates a possible tornado moving through the region.

According to the US National Weather Service Quad Cities, the warning remains in effect until 8:45 p.m. CDT Sunday. The affected area includes significant portions of Scott County in Iowa and Rock Island County in Illinois, impacting communities such as Riverdale, Blue Grass, Milan, and Buffalo Prairie.

The alert specifies that a tornado has been radar indicated, though no hail is currently expected. The warning area includes a population of approximately 231,388 people, encompassing 73 schools and 5 hospitals, prompting urgent safety measures for residents in the region.

Local authorities urge anyone within the warning zone to seek immediate shelter, preferably in a basement or interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. People in mobile homes, vehicles, or outdoors are strongly advised to move to a safer location.
