Orlando, FL – The National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center has issued a mesoscale discussion for much of the Florida Peninsula and far southern Georgia, highlighting ongoing tornado risks.
According to the NWS, the tornado threat associated with Tropical Storm Debby continues, with the greatest risk expected to shift northward toward the Florida-Georgia border later this evening. Convection from Debby’s outer bands is moving across central and northern Florida, with some stronger cells exhibiting periodic updraft rotation.
As Debby deepens, strong low-level shear will likely persist, supporting low-level updraft rotation and potential tornado formation with sustained convection. Residents are advised to stay alert and monitor weather updates.
