Maryland residents should prepare for a significant drop in temperatures on Thursday, with gusty winds creating additional hazards. Today’s warm temperatures in the 70s and 80s will plummet by 10 to 15 degrees by tomorrow, bringing highs down into the 60s. Winds will pick up overnight, with gusts up to 30 mph expected across the region, particularly along major highways like I-95 and I-97.
According to the National Weather Service, these gusty conditions will combine with dry air to increase the risk of wildfires in some areas, particularly on Thursday. Residents are advised to secure outdoor items, limit any unnecessary open flames, and be cautious while traveling, especially near wooded areas.
The colder temperatures and breezy conditions will continue into Thursday night, with lows dipping into the 40s across much of the state. Looking ahead to the weekend, a slight chance of showers is forecast for Friday night, with cooler yet sunny conditions expected through Sunday. Friday will see highs in the upper 60s, dropping again into the mid-60s by the weekend.
