Pittsburgh, PA – Residents in Pittsburgh and surrounding areas should prepare for rain tapering off today and a noticeable drop in temperatures as colder air moves into the region. Thanksgiving travel could be affected by gusty winds and icy conditions later tonight, especially along the I-80 corridor.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), precipitation will transition to light rain or snow showers in the afternoon, with most areas expected to remain dry. Winds will strengthen this evening, with gusts reaching up to 30 mph, making it feel colder than the expected highs of 44 degrees today. Temperatures will dip further overnight into the upper 20s.
Looking ahead to Friday, Black Friday shoppers and travelers should prepare for mixed precipitation and a chance of light snow before noon. The high will struggle to reach 35 degrees, with gusty winds creating wind chills in the 20s. By Friday night, conditions will dry out, but the cold remains, with a low near 19 degrees.
Saturday and Sunday bring clearer skies but frigid temperatures. Saturday’s high will reach 30 degrees under sunny conditions, while Sunday remains sunny with a high of 29. Overnight lows could plunge into the low 20s, so motorists should watch for icy spots on roadways.
Travelers and residents are urged to drive cautiously and dress warmly for outdoor activities. The early-week forecast suggests continued chances of snow showers, particularly on Monday and Tuesday.
