Cleveland, OH – A sharp arctic blast cold front is moving into Northeast Ohio this week, bringing freezing temperatures and possible snow along I-90. Residents should prepare for rain early in the week, followed by plunging temperatures and potential icy roads as Thanksgiving approaches.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures on Tuesday will start near 45°F before dropping to lows around 32°F overnight. Breezy conditions will accompany the cool-down, with gusts as high as 30 mph. By Wednesday, rain becomes likely, transitioning into a mix of rain and snow Thursday night. The first measurable snowfall of the season could arrive Friday, with daytime highs struggling to reach 37°F.
Drivers along I-90 and other major roadways should plan for reduced visibility and slippery conditions late in the week, particularly during holiday travel. Snow showers and lake-effect flurries are expected to linger into the weekend, with Saturday’s high temperature forecasted near 33°F.
Thanksgiving Day itself will see a mix of clouds and rain, with temperatures reaching 44°F. Outdoor plans should consider waterproof layers or alternative indoor activities. By Sunday, another cold surge could push daytime highs below freezing, further complicating travel.
Stay updated on local road conditions and dress in layers to combat the chilly winds. Residents are also advised to winterize vehicles and homes ahead of this week’s cold blast.
