Huntsville, AL – Thunderstorms are expected to sweep through the Huntsville area tonight, potentially disrupting travel along I-565 and U.S. 231. The National Weather Service warns that rain will begin this evening as a cold front moves in, bringing a 70% chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms through early Tuesday morning.
According to the National Weather Service, showers and storms are most likely between 8 p.m. and 3 a.m., with wind gusts up to 20 mph. Motorists traveling overnight should exercise caution, as heavy rain could reduce visibility and create slick roadways. New rainfall amounts could exceed half an inch in some locations.
Tuesday will bring calmer weather, with partly sunny skies and highs near 57°F. However, a stronger storm system is forecast to arrive Wednesday night, bringing a 90% chance of rain and thunderstorms. This could pose challenges for Thanksgiving preparations, especially for those traveling in the region.
By Thanksgiving Day, cooler weather will settle in, with highs only reaching the mid-50s and a continued chance of rain in the morning. Temperatures will plummet on Friday, with highs near 46°F and lows dipping to the freezing range, marking the coldest day of the week.
Residents should prepare for wet and potentially hazardous conditions over the next few days, particularly if traveling Wednesday night into Thursday. Stay updated by monitoring the National Weather Service for changes to the forecast.
