Omaha, NE – Thanksgiving week in eastern Nebraska and southwestern Iowa brings a mix of sunny skies, cold temperatures, and a snow threat heading into the weekend. Travelers and holiday shoppers should prepare for plunging temperatures, particularly on Black Friday.

According to the National Weather Service, Omaha will see a high near 35 degrees on Thanksgiving Day under mostly sunny skies. However, a sharp cold front is expected to sweep through Friday, bringing morning lows in the teens and afternoon highs struggling to reach the mid-20s. Snow chances will increase Friday night into Saturday, with a 20–30% chance of light snowfall.

For early Black Friday shoppers, the morning wind chills will hover in the single digits, with temperatures staying well below freezing all day. Officials advise bundling up for outdoor activities and allowing extra time for potential slick spots on roads like I-80, especially if snow develops overnight Friday into Saturday morning.

The extended forecast predicts Saturday will remain bitterly cold, with highs near 27 and lows dipping into the teens. Sunday brings slightly warmer temperatures, nearing the 30s, but conditions will remain dry.

Travelers are encouraged to check the latest road conditions and forecasts before heading out for Thanksgiving festivities. Keep an eye on updates as snow chances and timing may shift.
