Lake Charles, LA – A cold front will move through Louisiana on Tuesday, bringing light rain and noticeably cooler temperatures for Thanksgiving week. The National Weather Service (NWS) predicts showers beginning Tuesday afternoon, with rainfall totals up to 0.25 inches. Residents along I-10 should prepare for reduced visibility and slick roads during the evening commute.

According to the NWS Lake Charles office, the front will bring a sharp drop in temperatures overnight. Tuesday’s highs will reach 74°F before cooling to the mid-40s by morning. Blustery winds will accompany the drop, with a chilly Thanksgiving expected. Highs Thursday will be in the 60s, and rain is likely by late afternoon as another cold front sweeps through the region.

The coolest temperatures of the week will arrive Friday morning, with lows in the low 30s for much of the area, raising the potential for frost in outlying areas. Temperatures will remain below average through the weekend, with highs in the mid-50s and sunny skies returning by Saturday.

Outdoor holiday plans should include contingencies for rain on Thanksgiving and cold mornings Friday through Sunday. Those traveling across southern Louisiana should monitor conditions along major routes like I-10 and I-49.

Be sure to stay tuned for updates on developing weather conditions. The NWS advises layering clothing to stay warm during morning activities and driving cautiously during rain showers or frost events.
