LUBBOCK, TX – A winter weather advisory has been issued for Lubbock and nearby regions, as snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches is expected, with some areas possibly receiving higher amounts. The alert is in effect from 7 AM Saturday, April 5, through 1 AM Sunday, April 6, 2025.
According to the National Weather Service, snow will begin early Saturday and continue into Sunday morning, accompanied by strong winds gusting up to 45 mph. The combination of snow and wind is expected to create hazardous road conditions, including icy surfaces and limited visibility, making travel dangerous in parts of northwest and the Panhandle of Texas.
Motorists should slow down and use caution on all roads, particularly in rural areas, where snow may accumulate more rapidly. Additionally, the strong winds could bring down tree branches, posing further hazards.
Residents are encouraged to check for up-to-date road conditions by calling 511 for the latest travel information. Conditions are expected to improve by Sunday morning as the storm moves out of the region.
