Lubbock, TX – Residents in southeastern Texas should prepare for gusty winds and falling temperatures as a Wind Advisory remains in effect today until 3 p.m. The National Weather Service (NWS) has warned that winds from the northwest will reach speeds of 25-35 mph, with gusts peaking at 45 mph. These conditions are expected to impact the Texas Panhandle and Rolling Plains, including areas along US-84.

According to the NWS, the strong winds could make travel hazardous, especially for high-profile vehicles. Drivers should exercise caution on open stretches of road and secure loose outdoor objects. Blowing dust may reduce visibility in rural areas, further complicating travel conditions.

Sunday’s weather will see highs near 44°F but with a noticeable chill due to the breezy conditions. By tonight, temperatures will drop sharply to a low of 19°F, bringing clear skies and lighter winds.

Looking ahead, Monday will feature sunny conditions with a high near 43°F, though overnight lows will again plunge to 21°F. Tuesday and Wednesday may bring slight chances of snow showers, particularly for western portions of the Caprock. Temperatures are forecast to remain cool, with highs in the upper 30s and lows in the 20s midweek.

Residents are advised to bundle up and monitor weather updates as light snow accumulations could create slick roads by Wednesday. Those with outdoor plans should take precautions today and throughout the week as fluctuating conditions persist.
