Austin, TX — Strong storms are expected to sweep across central Texas this morning, posing a threat to commuters along major roadways, including I-35 and US-183. Damaging winds and lightning are the primary hazards, with storm activity forecasted to subside by early afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the storms are expected to develop across Austin and surrounding areas before noon. Drivers are urged to exercise caution, particularly on high-traffic routes. The strongest storms could lead to isolated power outages and brief flooding on roadways. Residents should stay weather-aware and ensure they have access to real-time updates.

Once the storms clear, the region will transition to sunny skies with highs reaching the low 80s this afternoon. Overnight, temperatures will drop to the mid-50s as cooler air moves in.

Looking ahead, sunny and dry conditions will dominate the rest of the week. Tuesday will see highs around 81°F, while a stronger cold front late Tuesday night will bring temperatures down to 40°F by Wednesday morning. Highs midweek will hover near 69°F, with breezy conditions likely.

By Thursday, sunny skies will persist with daytime highs in the mid-70s, warming slightly into the weekend. Weekend highs will approach 76°F, with clear nights expected throughout.
