Amarillo, TX – Amarillo residents can expect cold mornings and sunny skies as the week begins, with warming trends later on. Those traveling along I-40 should prepare for brisk conditions today and tomorrow, with wind chills dipping into the teens.

According to the National Weather Service, today’s high will reach 42°F, accompanied by patchy fog early in the morning and light southwest winds. Tonight, temperatures will plummet to a low of 24°F with clear skies, setting up for another chilly morning on Tuesday.

Tuesday will see similar conditions, with sunny skies and a high of 42°F. Wind chill values between 13°F and 16°F could make the morning feel much colder. Light winds will shift from the west in the afternoon, maintaining a brisk but clear day for commuters and outdoor activities. Travelers along I-40 are encouraged to bundle up and check for icy patches early in the day.

Looking ahead, a noticeable warming trend begins midweek. Wednesday and Thursday bring highs near 47°F and 56°F, respectively, under clear skies. Friday promises even warmer weather, with highs approaching 59°F and breezy southwest winds.

Despite the warming trend, nights will remain cold, dipping into the 20s through Wednesday. By Thursday night, lows will climb into the upper 30s, providing some overnight relief. Residents are advised to dress in layers and monitor changing conditions, especially when traveling.
