Corpus Christi, TX – Residents across the Coastal Bend are urged to remain cautious today as elevated fire danger persists due to dry conditions and low humidity. The National Weather Service has issued a fire danger statement in effect through 9 p.m., warning of rapidly spreading fires fueled by cured vegetation and relative humidity as low as 20%.
According to the National Weather Service, northeast winds shifting to the southeast at 10-15 mph, combined with warm temperatures in the mid-60s, could create hazardous conditions. Residents are advised to avoid outdoor burning, properly dispose of cigarettes, and refrain from parking vehicles on dry grass.
A chilly night is expected to follow, with temperatures dipping into the 40s under mostly clear skies. Looking ahead, Saturday will bring seasonal warmth with highs near 66 degrees, but significant rain is forecast Sunday. An 80% chance of showers, especially around the Victoria Crossroads and surrounding areas, could provide relief from current dry conditions.
Residents should remain weather-aware this weekend, especially as rain may impact travel plans. For the rest of the week, rain chances will taper off, with highs reaching the mid-70s by Wednesday.
