San Angelo, TX – West Texans will enjoy one more day of above-average temperatures today, with highs reaching into the low 60s under partly cloudy skies. However, a strong cold front this weekend will bring freezing overnight temperatures and highs only in the 30s by Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service in San Angelo, Friday’s weather will warm further with highs in the low 70s, accompanied by gusty southwest winds of up to 20 mph. The pattern shifts dramatically by Saturday night as an arctic air mass plunges lows to 22°F. Sunday is expected to be sunny but brisk, with a high of only 38°F.

Residents should prepare for freezing temperatures overnight Saturday and Sunday, which could affect exposed pipes, pets, and outdoor plants. The Texas Department of Transportation advises motorists to check their vehicles as wind gusts on Friday and icy conditions could develop in rural areas by Monday.

Looking ahead, Martin Luther King Jr. Day will remain cold, with a high near 37°F and a slight chance of snow showers overnight. By midweek, temperatures are expected to recover slightly with highs in the 40s.
