Houston, Texas – Strong storms are expected to roll into Houston by midday Tuesday, bringing travel hazards, lightning risks, and a soggy start to the week. Commuters on I-45 and I-69 should prepare for reduced visibility and ponding on roads as early as 1 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service, a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms begins Tuesday afternoon, with gusts reaching up to 20 mph in parts of Southeast Texas. Although storms may taper briefly Tuesday night, rain chances climb again by midweek, with the highest likelihood of widespread showers hitting Wednesday and Thursday.

Cities including Pasadena, Baytown, and Sugar Land can expect storm activity during peak travel hours. Wednesday brings a 60% chance of thunderstorms before 1 p.m., with some areas seeing heavier downpours into the afternoon. Thursday remains stormy as well, likely bringing additional rain accumulation and delays for outdoor plans or roadwork.

Looking ahead, drier skies return by Friday night, with partly sunny conditions expected through the weekend. Summer temperatures rebound Saturday and Sunday, with highs nearing 87°F by Sunday under mostly sunny skies.
