Fort Worth, Texas – Showers and thunderstorms could wake up Fort Worth residents early Friday, with heavy downpours expected to impact roads through 4 a.m.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, a line of storms will move through North Texas overnight with a 70% chance of rain. Storms may include thunder and localized downpours, although most areas will see less than a tenth of an inch of rain unless embedded thunderstorms develop.
Drivers in Tarrant County should use caution during the early commute Friday, especially near I-35W and Loop 820, where ponding may occur. The rain clears by sunrise, giving way to partly sunny skies and a high near 79°F. Winds from the north will remain light.
Conditions will dry out into the weekend with mostly sunny skies Saturday and highs climbing to 91°F by Sunday. Early next week brings a brief return of isolated thunderstorms Monday afternoon with highs pushing into the mid-90s.
Residents should avoid flooded roadways overnight and charge devices in case of power flickers.
Another update is expected by Friday afternoon as clearer conditions set in for the weekend.
