Lubbock, Texas – A weak line of showers and thunderstorms could drift into Lubbock by 1 p.m. Sunday, raising concern for slick streets and sudden wind gusts during the heat of the day. Drivers along U.S. Route 62 and U.S. 82 should stay alert through late afternoon as rain chances sit at 20% and could cause brief, localized slowdowns.

According to the National Weather Service in Lubbock, the slight storm risk continues through 1 a.m. Monday, when skies should begin clearing. Temperatures will reach 90°F Sunday before another surge of heat builds into the region early next week. Winds from the east-northeast will stay between 5–10 mph.

Monday brings mostly sunny skies and a high of 90°F. Another slight 20% chance of evening storms could return after 7 p.m. Monday night, but most of the day looks dry and calm.

Hot, dry summer weather returns in full by Tuesday, with highs climbing to 91°F and no rain in sight. Temperatures rise further midweek, peaking near 96°F on Thursday.
