San Angelo, Texas – Severe thunderstorms could rattle parts of West Central Texas by Wednesday morning, bringing gusty winds, lightning, and heavy downpours. San Angelo residents should stay weather-aware early in the day as storms may affect roads, including stretches of US-87 and Loop 306.
According to the National Weather Service, a 40 percent chance of storms will develop before 7 a.m. Wednesday, with some capable of producing dangerous lightning and wind gusts over 20 mph. After the storms move through, skies will clear and temperatures will climb to a high near 81°F. Winds will shift out of the northeast at 5 mph, offering brief relief before the heat builds again.
Thursday through Sunday will bring a classic June warm-up. Highs will range from 92°F to 99°F, with mostly sunny skies and increasing humidity. South winds could gust to 20 mph Thursday and Friday, making fire danger and dehydration risks worth noting for those spending time outdoors.
Stay hydrated, avoid peak afternoon sun, and monitor NWS alerts as conditions may change quickly. Any lingering moisture from storms combined with the upcoming heat may also lead to slick roadways early Wednesday.
⚠️ Warnings remain possible through early Wednesday. Stay tuned to NWS San Angelo for updates.
