San Antonio, Texas – Western counties in South-Central Texas face a marginal risk of severe storms this afternoon and evening, with isolated cells capable of producing damaging winds and large hail, particularly near Del Rio and Eagle Pass.
According to the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio, a Level 1 (Marginal) thunderstorm risk zone includes parts of the Rio Grande Plains and Edwards Plateau. Isolated storms may spark between 3 and 9 p.m., with lightning, hail, and brief wind gusts up to 60 mph. Meanwhile, the majority of the region—stretching from San Antonio to Austin—will remain dry but hot and humid, with highs climbing into the upper 80s and low 90s.
Carrizo Springs is expected to reach 97°F, while Uvalde and Hondo may top out at 92°F and 90°F, respectively. San Antonio, New Braunfels, and Austin will hover near 88–89°F under mostly cloudy skies.
Residents in western counties should monitor conditions closely, secure outdoor objects, and have multiple ways to receive warnings. If thunder roars, move indoors immediately.
Storm chances diminish overnight, but warm, unsettled conditions are expected to continue into midweek. Another round of scattered storms is possible Thursday.
