San Antonio, Texas – Blistering heat is set to intensify across Central Texas Thursday, with San Antonio bracing for a heat index near 106°F by mid-afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will peak at 95°F on Thursday, but the oppressive humidity will push heat index values as high as 106°F. The area remains under a heat advisory watch with impacts expected along the I-35 corridor and throughout Bexar County. Outdoor workers and vulnerable populations should take extra precautions, limit sun exposure, and stay hydrated.
Hot, mostly sunny conditions will persist Friday through Sunday, with actual highs reaching 100°F by Saturday. Winds will stay light out of the south-southeast at 5–10 mph, offering little relief. Overnight lows will remain warm, in the upper 70s.
Cooling centers are open across San Antonio, and residents are urged to check on elderly neighbors and pets. TXDOT reports no major weather-related road closures yet, but pavement temperatures are expected to soar, increasing risk of tire blowouts and vehicle overheating.
Though no storms are expected through the weekend, early next week brings a 20–30% chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms by Monday, potentially breaking the heat.
