San Antonio, TX – Storms and steamy summer heat will return to South Texas Thursday afternoon, bringing thunder, lightning, and the risk of isolated flooding to parts of Bexar County — just as temperatures climb near 90°F.
According to the National Weather Service, there’s a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Thursday. Winds from the southeast near 5 mph may fuel scattered afternoon convection, especially along major roadways like I-10 and U.S. 281. The risk continues into Friday, with another round of scattered storms possible before drier air moves in this weekend.
Locals should stay weather-aware Thursday afternoon, especially drivers along I-10 and Loop 1604, where ponding and sudden downpours could reduce visibility. With high humidity and temperatures in the low 90s, any storm could bring heavy rain in short bursts.
Friday offers a similar setup, with 20% storm chances and a high near 87°F. By Saturday and Sunday, partly sunny skies return, but slight chances for afternoon showers linger. Highs will stay in the mid to upper 80s, offering little relief from sticky conditions.
Looking ahead, Monday and Tuesday will crank up the summer heat again, with highs reaching 93–95°F and a continued chance of isolated thunderstorms. Nights remain warm, with lows near 74°F.
More advisories could be issued if storm threats grow. Stay updated through NWS San Antonio and local alerts.
