San Antonio, Texas – A dangerous heat index nearing 102°F and a slight chance of thunderstorms could disrupt afternoon plans across San Antonio on Wednesday, June 4. While skies may remain mostly sunny early, rising heat and late-day storm development pose risks for commuters and outdoor workers, especially near I-35 and Loop 410.

According to the National Weather Service, the San Antonio area will see a high near 93°F Wednesday, with southeast winds up to 15 mph and isolated storms developing after 3 p.m. Though storm chances remain low at 20%, the combination of heat and humidity may increase the chance of localized flash flooding or downed branches if a storm forms.

Drivers should prepare for brief delays and slippery road conditions, particularly near the downtown corridor and northern suburbs. Those working outside should take frequent breaks, hydrate often, and check on vulnerable individuals and pets.

The heat ramps up further Thursday and Friday, with highs of 96°F and 98°F respectively under mostly sunny skies. Nighttime temps will only drop to the mid-70s, offering little relief. Winds may reach 20 mph during the day, increasing wildfire concerns across dry grasslands west of Bexar County.

Extended 5-Day Outlook (June 3–7):

  • Tuesday (June 3): High 94°F, heat index 102°F, partly sunny, breezy
  • Wednesday (June 4): High 93°F, 20% chance of p.m. storms
  • Thursday (June 5): High 96°F, mostly sunny, breezy
  • Friday (June 6): High 98°F, hot and dry
  • Saturday (June 7): High 100°F, hot and sunny — peak heat risk

More heat alerts may be issued later this week as highs top 100°F. Stay tuned for updates from NWS San Antonio.
