Fort Worth, Texas – A surge of heat and scattered thunderstorms is expected across North Texas through early next week, with isolated strong to severe storms possible along the Red River through Monday evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, storm chances will remain low overall, but areas near Sherman and Paris may see stronger activity—especially during the evening hours Friday through Sunday. High pressure aloft is expected to dominate much of the region, driving temperatures into the mid-90s across Dallas-Fort Worth and pushing as high as 97°F in Waco by Monday.

Dallas and surrounding suburbs could see storm chances around 20–30% from Friday through Monday, primarily in the afternoon and early evening. In contrast, central Texas cities like Waco, Temple, and Killeen are more likely to stay dry, but will feel the brunt of the heat with consistent highs above 95°F starting Sunday.

Drivers in storm-prone areas near U.S. 82 should stay alert for gusty winds and brief heavy downpours. Residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak heat, and monitor alerts if storms develop.

Heat and storm risks continue through Monday, with more updates expected as conditions evolve.
