Houston, TX – A hard freeze warning and cold weather advisory are in effect across parts of southeast Texas, bringing frigid temperatures and hazardous conditions. Wind chills are expected to drop as low as 10°F, with sub-freezing temperatures persisting through Monday morning.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the hard freeze warning will begin at midnight Sunday and last until 10 a.m. Monday. The advisory spans counties including Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Houston, Madison, and Washington, among others. Temperatures are predicted to dip below 25°F for several hours overnight.
Officials urge residents to take precautions to protect themselves and their property. Frost and freeze conditions could damage crops, vegetation, and unprotected plumbing. Residents are advised to insulate exposed pipes, keep pets indoors, and dress warmly when venturing outside.
Portable heaters and generators should be used with caution to avoid fire or carbon monoxide risks. The NWS also encourages checking on vulnerable individuals, including elderly neighbors or relatives.
