San Antonio, Texas – A flood watch remains in effect through 7 p.m. today as heavy showers continue to soak parts of central and south-central Texas. Residents in San Antonio, Austin, and surrounding areas should prepare for saturated ground and rising streams as storms continue to roll through.

According to the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio, rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches are expected across counties including Bexar, Travis, Comal, and Hays—with isolated spots possibly seeing up to 10 inches. Excessive runoff may lead to rapid flooding along rivers, creeks, and flood-prone roads like I-35, I-10, and Loop 1604.

Localized flooding is already a concern, especially near low-water crossings. Creeks may rise suddenly, and drivers are urged to avoid flooded roads—turn around, don’t drown. A moist tropical airmass, paired with a slow-moving system, is fueling these storms.

Looking Ahead: Sunday Through Thursday Forecast

  • Sunday (July 6): Mostly sunny early, then a 20% chance of afternoon storms. High near 91°F. Winds from the south at 5–10 mph.
  • Monday: Mostly sunny with a high near 93°F. Slight storm chance late afternoon.
  • Tuesday: Hot and mostly sunny. High near 94°F, low around 74°F.
  • Wednesday: Mostly clear and dry. High around 98°F, pushing peak summer heat levels.
  • Thursday: Sunshine continues. High near 98°F, with no rain expected.

This week brings a summer warm-up with isolated storms possible early. Flooding concerns ease after tonight, but residents should stay weather-aware as temperatures climb and heat safety becomes a focus heading into mid-July.
