LUBBOCK, Texas — A quiet, cool night is in store for West Texas, with temperatures dipping into the 40s in many areas. This is a few degrees below the normal low for early May. Travelers and residents should be prepared for crisp, clear conditions throughout the region.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Lubbock, temperatures will fall as low as 43°F in Muleshoe and 45°F in Lubbock, with similar cool conditions extending across the area. By dawn, towns such as Plainview, Dimmitt, and Morton will see lows ranging from 43°F to 47°F.

The cooler-than-usual temperatures could create a noticeable change for those who have been accustomed to warmer spring weather. While the night will remain mostly clear, low temperatures will be a reminder of the season’s transitional nature, with regions like Brownfield and Lubbock dipping into the mid-40s. The NWS advises that those with outdoor plans this evening dress accordingly, as temperatures may feel chillier than expected.

This weather pattern is expected to remain in place through early Tuesday morning, with no significant changes forecasted in the coming hours. Expect sunny, mild conditions by mid-morning, though cooler temperatures could return again by evening.
