Corpus Christi, TX – A powerful cold front is bringing unusually chilly conditions to much of South Texas, with temperatures expected to dip into the 40s and low 50s across the Corpus Christi region tonight.
According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, the front will shift winds from the northwest to north, pushing colder air into the area Saturday night. Lows will range from 46°F in Beeville to around 52°F near the coast in Corpus Christi and Rockport. These values are 10 to 13 degrees below seasonal norms.
The temperature drop follows a day of highs in the 80s, making for a stark evening contrast. Cities like Alice, Victoria, and Tilden are also expected to experience lows in the upper 40s. Sunday and Monday will continue this cooler trend before a warming pattern begins Tuesday.
Beachgoers should exercise caution, as forecasters have issued a high rip current risk along the coast through this evening. Winds and waves are expected to increase, making swimming hazardous.
Residents are advised to wear layers, secure outdoor items ahead of gusty winds, and avoid swimming today due to surf conditions. Warmer weather returns by midweek, with highs forecast to reach the 90s by Thursday.
