Corpus Christi, Texas – Gusty coastal winds are set to rattle South Texas through Monday evening, creating choppy bay waters and difficult travel for high-profile vehicles before a rapid warmup sends temperatures soaring back toward the mid-90s by the end of the workweek.
According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, sustained winds and frequent gusts will continue across the Coastal Bend on Monday as cooler air settles in behind the weekend system. Afternoon highs will only reach 60° to 68°, a noticeable drop from recent warmth, while wind speeds remain strong enough to impact elevated roadways and coastal travel.
Drivers crossing the Harbor Bridge, JFK Causeway, and US-181 may encounter sudden crosswinds, especially during the afternoon commute. Boaters in Corpus Christi Bay and the Intracoastal Waterway should also expect rougher conditions before winds ease later Monday night.
Calmer weather arrives Tuesday as winds diminish and sunshine returns. Temperatures rebound quickly with highs climbing into the mid-70s Tuesday, then jumping into the 80s Wednesday across Nueces, San Patricio, and Aransas counties.
The warming trend accelerates late week as South Texas shifts back into summerlike heat. Highs are expected to reach 77° to 89° Thursday and 81° to 94° Friday, bringing a dramatic swing from Monday’s cool, windy conditions. Additional marine advisories could remain in place along the coast until winds fully relax Monday night.
