Dallas, Texas – Widespread flooding is possible across much of North and Central Texas through Thursday night, as multiple rounds of heavy rain push totals to as much as 7 inches in some areas.
According to the National Weather Service offices in Fort Worth and Houston, a Flood Watch is now in effect for more than 60 counties, including Dallas, Fort Worth, Waco, Killeen, College Station, and Huntsville. The alert lasts through Thursday evening as storms bring high rainfall rates, especially in urban and low-lying zones.
In the DFW Metroplex, including Dallas and Tarrant counties, flash flooding may develop on roads like I-35W and Loop 820. The same threat applies to Central Texas cities like Waco and Temple, where runoff could overwhelm drainage systems. Southeast Texas, particularly Bryan and Huntsville, may also see dangerous street flooding if rainfall rates intensify.
Drivers should avoid flooded roadways and prepare for delays during morning and evening commutes. Residents in flood-prone areas are urged to keep mobile devices charged and stay weather-aware.
The Flood Watch remains active through Thursday night. Additional warnings may be issued as rainfall continues to accumulate.
