Texarkana, Texas – A tornado watch is in effect for five northeast Texas counties until 7 p.m. Sunday, with storms capable of producing dangerous winds and isolated tornadoes expected to develop this afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center, Tornado Watch 154 includes Bowie, Cass, Harrison, Marion, and Red River counties. The alert, issued at noon, warns residents to prepare for rapidly changing conditions and to stay alert for future warnings.

Areas along I-30 and U.S. Highway 59 could see brief spin-ups and damaging gusts, especially near Texarkana and Marshall. Emergency officials in Harrison County urged residents to secure outdoor items and review shelter plans. Power outages and tree damage are also possible if stronger storms materialize.

Schools and community centers in affected counties are monitoring the situation, and some weekend events may be delayed or canceled as a precaution. Residents are advised to keep phones charged, enable weather alerts, and identify their nearest safe room or interior shelter area.

This tornado watch remains active until 7 p.m., and additional advisories may follow if storm conditions escalate later tonight.
