Austin, TX – Central Texas will see a dramatic weather shift this week as a cold front arrives late Wednesday, bringing cooler temperatures just in time for Thanksgiving. After an unseasonably warm Wednesday with highs near 81 degrees, Austin will experience highs in the low 60s Thursday and even cooler temperatures through the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, Thanksgiving Day will be sunny with a high of 62 and winds from the north at 10-15 mph, gusting as high as 20 mph. Travelers heading along I-35 should remain cautious of breezy conditions Thursday morning, especially for lightweight vehicles.

The drop in temperatures will continue Friday, with a high of 60 degrees, followed by clear and calm conditions Saturday with highs near 67. Overnight lows will dip into the 40s, with Friday night seeing a low around 38. Residents planning outdoor activities or travel for the holiday weekend are advised to prepare for cooler mornings and steady winds.

Looking ahead, Sunday will bring slightly warmer temperatures, with highs near 66 under sunny skies. A chance of showers enters the forecast early next week, with rain likely Monday night into Tuesday.
