Fort Worth, Texas – Isolated severe thunderstorms could spark across Central Texas this afternoon, especially near Killeen and Waco, where highs in the upper 80s and low 90s will fuel a volatile atmosphere.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, a warm and unstable airmass will create conditions favorable for large hail and damaging wind gusts from 3 to 10 p.m. Thursday. While North Texas stays mostly dry today, residents south of I-20 should remain alert, as any storm that develops could intensify rapidly.

Cities like Killeen (91°F) and Waco (87°F) sit in the highest-risk zone today. Outdoor activities and travel should be planned carefully, and residents are urged to monitor local alerts. Storm shelters and alternate power sources should be ready in case of outages.

The more widespread and intense threat arrives overnight into Friday as a strong cold front sweeps through North and Central Texas. From late tonight through Friday afternoon, storms could produce large hail, 60+ mph winds, and isolated tornadoes, especially near DFW, Gainesville, and Paris. Localized flooding is possible with heavy rainfall.

Storms will clear by Friday evening, setting up a calm and cooler weekend. Watches and warnings may be issued throughout the day, so stay tuned for updates.
