San Antonio, Texas – Severe storms are expected to develop across Central Texas this evening, bringing the threat of isolated tornadoes, large hail, and damaging winds from 5 p.m. to midnight.

According to the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio, a Level 1 “Marginal Risk” covers the I-35 corridor from San Antonio to Austin, as well as surrounding areas including Boerne, New Braunfels, and La Grange. While widespread severe weather is not anticipated, isolated storms could intensify quickly and produce hazards, especially in rural areas west of I-35.

Cities such as Kerrville, Fredericksburg, and Eagle Pass could see quarter-size hail and gusts exceeding 60 mph. Brief tornadoes are also possible, especially in isolated cells forming during the early evening. Residents are advised to monitor weather alerts and prepare to shelter indoors if warnings are issued.

If you’re heading out for evening plans, stay weather-aware and avoid outdoor activities during the peak storm window. Keep mobile devices charged and ensure you have multiple ways to receive emergency alerts.

The threat will taper off by midnight, but more dangerous storms are expected Friday. A Level 2 “Slight Risk” is already in place for parts of the Hill Country and Central Texas.
