Corpus Christi, Texas – Severe storms packing heavy rain, large hail, and strong winds could drench much of South Texas from 6 p.m. Tuesday through 7 a.m. Wednesday, bringing a risk of flash flooding in cities including San Antonio, Laredo, and Corpus Christi.
According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, a Level 2 (Slight Risk) alert is in effect for both excessive rainfall and scattered severe thunderstorms across a wide swath of the state. Rainfall amounts could reach 1–3 inches across the region, with isolated areas seeing up to 5 inches overnight. Flash flooding is most likely in the yellow-shaded areas, which include Cotulla, Beeville, and Pleasanton.
Primary threats include localized flooding, especially in low-lying and urban areas, along with hail and damaging wind gusts. Roads like I-37, US-59, and TX-44 could become hazardous during early morning commutes. Residents should avoid low-water crossings and secure outdoor items vulnerable to high winds.
Power outages are possible. Officials recommend charging electronic devices and monitoring emergency alerts through early Wednesday.
Additional advisories may be issued as storms evolve. Warnings remain in effect through at least 7 a.m. Wednesday.
