Abilene, Texas – Severe weather will persist overnight as additional storms push eastward into Texas, continuing through Sunday morning. A Tornado Watch remains in effect for the southern half of the state, while the northern half is under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch. Both alerts are set to last until 5 AM Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service, the threat includes the possibility of isolated tornadoes, large hail up to 2 inches in diameter, and wind gusts reaching up to 70 MPH. The conditions are expected to impact major areas including San Angelo, Abilene, and areas further south such as Ballinger and Sweetwater.

Residents should remain alert for rapidly changing conditions, especially in the southern half of the state where the Tornado Watch remains active. Travelers are advised to avoid non-essential travel and stay off roads if possible, as heavy rain and strong winds may cause hazardous conditions.

Severe thunderstorms are expected to continue pushing east, with the risk of tornadoes extending into the early hours of Sunday. Stay tuned for updates from local weather authorities.
