Amarillo, TX – Bitter cold continues across the Texas Panhandle today, with wind chills as low as 20 below zero. However, relief is on the way, as temperatures are set to rebound this weekend.
According to the National Weather Service, an Extreme Cold Warning remains in effect until noon today, with dangerously low wind chills increasing the risk of frostbite and hypothermia. Residents should dress in layers, cover exposed skin, and limit outdoor activities. By Friday, temperatures will begin rising, with highs near 39°F, followed by a significant warm-up this weekend.
Saturday and Sunday will see sunny skies and highs reaching 55°F and 64°F, respectively. Winds will be light, making outdoor activities more comfortable. By Monday, highs could climb into the low 70s, marking a major shift from this week’s arctic blast.
Residents should remain cautious through today but can look forward to a much milder weekend. Stay updated on changing conditions and take necessary precautions against the cold.
