Amarillo, Texas – Four tornadoes briefly touched down across the Texas Panhandle on Sunday, including one that caused minor home damage in Borger and another that destroyed a barn in rural Dallam County.
According to the National Weather Service in Amarillo, an EF0 tornado with peak winds of 80 mph struck Borger at 4:26 p.m. Sunday. The twister followed a short 0.2-mile path near Boyd and Sterling streets, damaging shingles and snapping large tree branches on the north side of town. No injuries were reported.
In southwest Dallam County, an EF1 tornado with winds nearing 95 mph touched down around 4:38 p.m., tracking nearly two miles and destroying a barn just south of FM 1727. Earlier that afternoon, two brief tornadoes were also confirmed in open areas near Felt and Perico. Neither caused damage to structures, though the Felt tornado traveled over six miles through grassland, flattening vegetation.
Officials urge residents to remain weather-aware as June brings peak tornado activity for the region. While no additional storms are expected this week, more surveys could follow.
