San Antonio, TX — An ozone action day has been declared for the San Antonio area on Monday, urging residents to limit outdoor activity and reduce vehicle emissions. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) warns that high ozone levels could affect air quality, particularly along heavily traveled routes like I-35 and I-410.
According to the Alamo Area Council of Governments, air pollution levels will be most severe in the afternoon. Drivers are encouraged to carpool or use alternative transportation. Public health officials suggest limiting strenuous outdoor activities, especially for those with respiratory conditions. The alert extends through the end of Monday, and another assessment will be issued by 3 p.m. if conditions worsen.
This week, San Antonio will also face continued heat, with highs reaching 97°F on Tuesday. Residents are advised to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged sun exposure. While temperatures may cool slightly by Friday, the region remains under a prolonged heatwave advisory.
