According to the National Weather Service in Amarillo, today’s temperatures could rival historic records. Dalhart is expected to reach 90°F, while nearby Borger may hit 95°F. By Saturday, the heat intensifies further, with Borger and Clarendon both forecast to reach 97°F. The NWS warns of potentially dangerous conditions for those exposed to prolonged heat, especially for workers outside or along highways like I-40 and I-27.
Saturday’s forecast shows no relief, with temperatures again nearing record highs. The region will see sustained heat throughout the Columbus Day weekend, with a high of 89°F expected on Monday. Cooler temperatures are not anticipated until mid-week when highs will drop to 79°F on Tuesday.
