El Paso, Texas – Triple-digit heat will grip the El Paso region on Sunday, with temperatures soaring to 106°F and increasing the risk of heat-related illness, especially during peak afternoon hours.
According to the National Weather Service in El Paso, a Heat Advisory is in effect from noon to 8 p.m. MDT Sunday for much of the region, including Tornillo, Socorro, Fabens, Fort Bliss, and parts of Hudspeth County. The advisory also covers the Rio Grande Valley corridor near Fort Hancock and Indian Hot Springs.
The heat could cause serious health risks, especially for those without access to air conditioning. Outdoor workers and vulnerable populations should take precautions, including drinking water frequently, limiting sun exposure, and wearing light, loose-fitting clothing. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) urges anyone working outside to take frequent shaded breaks and watch for signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
Power usage may spike across El Paso Electric’s service area as residents try to stay cool. Check on neighbors, especially seniors and those without reliable cooling.
This advisory is part of a broader early summer heatwave across West Texas. More alerts could follow as conditions evolve.
