Corpus Christi, Texas – South Texans should prepare for a return to summerlike heat this weekend, with afternoon highs surging into the mid- to upper 90s and gusty winds reaching 30 mph by Sunday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, mostly cloudy skies early Saturday will clear into partly sunny conditions with highs ranging from the low 80s near the coast to 94°F inland in Cotulla. Southeast winds will increase to 15–20 mph during the day with gusts topping 30 mph in some areas.
Lows tonight will stay mild, dipping only into the upper 60s to mid-70s from Laredo to Port Lavaca. The stretch of hot, breezy weather continues into early next week with Monday and Tuesday peaking near 98°F in Victoria, Alice, and inland areas. Coastal cities like Rockport and Port Aransas will remain a few degrees cooler but humid.
The pattern may shift slightly by midweek. A 20% chance of rain arrives Wednesday and Thursday, offering some relief from the extended dry spell. Until then, residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak heat, and secure loose outdoor items due to strong afternoon gusts.
Rain chances and cooling trends may increase after Wednesday.
